Super Bowl

Let the hype begin. I watched the Foxboro rally held yesterday in the snow and later saw the team arrive at Phoenix in the rain. Brady & Belichick did well in their interviews after arriving at the team hotel.

The Giants are a roadblock to the miracle. Just gotta hope Pats will do what they gotta do to make it possible.

What's with some of the media calling Arizona "'zona?" Is this some new, hip phrase?

yada yada

I caught some of the New Hampshire pre-primary debates last night. Unusual, in that both major parties candidates were present. Good. I'm beginning to hate all of the partisanship which is a waste of energy and never accomplishes very much.

The NFL playoffs finally started. Will the Pats be perfect?? Who knows, but I for one certainly am hoping so.

Winter books preview: Warmth, fire and chills await book lovers this season - USATODAY.com

Looks like a few good books coming out for winter reading. I notice that Stephen King has one on the list. I have always been a fan of his when he writes under his own name and I have also read a few of the Bachman stories. I recently finished Lisey's Story and found parts of it kind of slow moving, maybe a little too much internal angst for long streches, but still give it an overall OK because if you stick with SK there will always be a reward of some sort such as a revelation or perspective on reality that you haven't seen anywhere else. I thought the best parts were when the characters were put in motion with some kind purpose.

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks may be worth a look.

Coldest day of the season outside. 3 above 0 F when I got up this morning.

Speaking of the cold, what's up with the price of heating oil? Absolutely absurd. Supply & demand no longer seems to apply. The commodities markets are reacting to every shoe that drops resulting in an irrational volatility in prices. The present administration is not going to do anything about it at all. Any decent president would already have created a panel to look into this and make recommendations as to how we could stabilize prices and reduce our dependence on unrealiable, if not hostile, foreign oil suppliers. There should be a plan to switch to alternative sources in the works now. The economic position of the US has taken a real hit under these guys. I think that they may all be one worlders at heart and have an agenda that does not rate national sovereignty and independence very highly. The dollar must be restored to its former standing in the world and fast.
